Slice or Serve?
What is it that drives you? What motivates you? What
is it that you are passionate about? This is what I have been to consider with
regards to writing a blog dedicated to my passion.
After careful thought and consideration, I narrowed my categories down to two potential topics. However, this process continues until only one topic remains. Throughout the week, I evaluated what my passions are, if there was enough material to write about, would these topics interest the readers (my classmates) and most importantly, did the topic interest me. After much debate and narrowing my choices, I concluded, the two topics I am passionate about are tennis and baking.
While both topics may appear broad, they can easily be made specific. This is where I would like your advice and input. Should I decide to make my blog about tennis, the blog will focus on the various aspects of the game, evaluate and consider effective playing strategies, include personal stories from the campus tennis club and cover current professional tournaments. This
blog will be titled Serve
It Up.
On the other hand, my second idea is a baking blog. At home, I absolutely love to spend my time baking. Baking brings me joy, a sense of calm and satisfaction. I bake my family’s birthday cakes, for neighbor’s parties and other family events. For this blog, I would share several of my own baking stories, explore new recipes, and discuss the difficulties of
being gluten free while still trying to bake a delicious product. This blog will be called, Baking Bliss.
As of now, I do
not have the tag line, but am working on it.
As of now, I lean towards creating the baking blog, Baking Bliss, because I believe it is more enjoyable to write about, but I would still appreciate your input and feedback!

It seems like you already know what you truly want! For me as a viewer the baking seems more interesting, not because I enjoy baking over tennis, but because you seem more passionate about it! One of my best friends is gluten free so I know how tough that must be for you. I look forward to reading about whatever blog you chose to pursue.
ReplyDeleteI think baking is definitely interesting to read about! Not saying tennis is a bad idea either, but I feel you will have more to write about baking. Baking is a very universal thing, because it can be very creative! I would love to see pictures of your creations! I look forward to your future posts!
ReplyDeleteI personally agree with you about which of your potential blog topics I prefer. The baking blog would be able to reach a wider audience and would contain more practical information than the tennis blog. Moreover I think that having a focus on gluten free baking would give your blog a unique angle that would make it additionally engaging.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of a baking blog! It might be beneficial to include pictures of baked goods that you have done in the past when discussing specific recipes. For example, if you want to make a post about a cake recipe that you did for a friend that you really enjoyed, do not get a photo offline if you do not have to. If you have personal photos of that cake, include those. That way, your readers are able to see your ideas and possibly create their own.
ReplyDeleteFOOODDD. Yess. Please do a baking blog. Also if you bake too much for the blog please feel free send them to me. It would be amazing if you put personal insights into your "baking journals" too.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read a baking blog! I am personally the worst cook/baker on this planet so I could use a few tips. I feel like it would be easier for you to write consecutive blogs on baking whereas you would start to run out of things to talk about for the tennis blog. A baking blog would be able to reach a larger audience as well.
